Laurel County Sheriff John Root says the department’s participation in the just concluded “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” was a huge success again this year. The campaign which runs through the Christmas and New Year holidays is an effort to remove impared or distracted drivers from the roads. They also watch out for seat belt violations and child safety seat violations. Sheriff Root reports the arrest of 4 impaired drivers, 9 seat belt citations, 12 speeding citations, 1 child restraint citation and 134 other traffic citations. Deputies also made numerous drug and other arrests and recovered a stolen truck and other property through the period. Sheriff Root continues to remind citizens to always drive defensively and always expect the unexpected. He says his deputies will continue to aggressively remove impaired drivers from Laurel County Roads.
