The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office says deputies arrested the father of a child after they found her wandering alone. The little girl, who appeared to be between two and three years old, was found walking alone barefooted and wearing only a diaper. She did not seem to be injured. A man mowing his yard saw the girl walking down the middle of the highway. After securing the child, deputies searched house-to-house for the parents or a caregiver. After two hours, officials found the toddler’s father, 22 year old James Tyler Neal. The child’s mother had contacted Neal, and when he realized the girl was not in his home, he began searching for her himself. He then left his home and ran into the deputies. Police took the girl into protective custody and brought her to Department of Community Based Services for evaluation. Neal was arrested on a charge of second-degree criminal abuse of a child under 12. He was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
