The Knox County Sheriff’s Office says while deputies were patrolling on Burlwood Drive in Barbourville they noticed a man walking in a church parking lot that appeared to be under the influence. When officers investigated they found the man, 36 year old Gary Dewayne Rice of Barbourville, was wanted on two Knox County warrants for failure to pay the fines on assault, promoting contraband and other charges. While arrested Rice, a baggie containing suspected methamphetamine fell out of his pants. He was then also charged with possession of drugs and paraphernalia. Rice was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
